FAQ

Why should I start collecting Crypto stamps?

Crypto stamp collecting combines the physical and digital world of stamp collecting using blockchain technology. We have made the transition from collecting physical stamps to collecting its digital version and NFT as easy as possible. Collectors can now enjoy their traditional stamp-collecting hobby with us online, with the option of trading the NFTs of these and thus becoming part of the exciting new Web3 world of Blockchains and NFTs.

What is a crypto stamp?

Your crypto stamp is a digital twin or virtual representation of the real-world physical stamp. The NFT is the digital counterpart of the physical stamp. An NFT is an online unique and non-replaceable object that can’t be replaced or faked.

How do I claim my crypto stamp?

Once you have received your physical crypto stamp, you can claim its digital twin on the Ciphers.me platform. You can scan or enter the publicID of the physical booklet and ‘claim’ your stamp in your collection. Now you will see the stamp in your collection and it’s added to your account. Please note that this stamp is now claimed, but isn’t an NFT yet. For this you need to mint your stamp.

How do I mint my crypto stamp?

Minting refers to the process of transforming your online claimed stamp into an NFT. At Ciphers.me this is an easy process once you have connected your Web3 Wallet to your Ciphers.me account. Please note that you need a Web3 wallet e.g. Metamask before being able to mint the stamp. Follow the specific installation instructions and after installing and connecting your Web3 wallet to the platform you just click ‘MINT’ to make it your NFT.

Why do I need a Web3Wallet?

A Web3 wallet is an digital wallet you can access through a web browser. It’s a personal wallet that helps you own and use digital stuff (like NFT’s, crypto stamps or cryptocurrency ) in a decentralised and secure way. Web3 wallets e.g. metamask uses the decentralised blockchain Polygon to keep it secure.

Is claiming or minting my crypto stamp free?

Minting or claiming crypto stamps may incur fees, which can vary depending on the platform and the complexity of the stamp. These fees often cover the blockchain transaction costs and platform services. Minting the first Brandenburger Tor crypto stamp of Deutsche Post is completely free.

Is Ciphers.me safe for me to use?

We put safety and trust first. The transparency, authenticity, and proof of ownership of NFTs are secured by the Blockchain. Blockchains provide provenance, security and decentralization, ensuring the integrity of the crypto stamps.

What is blockchain technology?

Think of a blockchain as a large decentralised library of records of origin, authenticity and ownership stored on different locations for security reasons. The data on the blockchain is distributed across multiple computers worldwide. This decentralisation provides greater security, as well as transparency and immutability of the data. Blockchain is the underlying technology behind cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, as well as NFTs such as ours. Once a transaction is recorded on the blockchain, it cannot be changed or deleted.

How do I start selling and trading my digital stamps with other collectors?

After you have bought, claimed and minted your stamp, it has become an NFT in your collection. This means is has become part of the blockchain and gathered a value. Now you can start trading with other collectors and expand your digital horizon.
